The particles of contaminants that cause air pollution are the same particles that are inhaled upon breathing such contaminated air.

Air pollution is generally considered to be potentially deadly, especially in urban areas where there are high traffic patterns and a high level of manufacturing.

Unfortunately, it takes a long time and a rather significant incident rate alongside scientific studies for the true relationship of air pollution and health concerns to be known. Many scientific studies include studies of the impact of air pollution on animal health is a first indication that there is a health risk.

Some of the basic health concerns include the increase in diagnosed asthma cases, unexplained skin rashes that have been linked to respiratory distress. Chronic bronchitis, an irritated throat, and a persistent cough are the most mundane of the health problems posed by air pollution.

Cancer, miscarriages, birth defects, and neurological problems are being linked to more cases of air pollution poisoning. This is a serious concern that is spreading world wide. Kidney and liver damage can occur from the chronic exposure to rain that is laden with pollutant gases.

Children are at a much higher risk for serious health problems resulting from air pollution. The dramatic increase in lung conditions on the west coast of the United States, as well as on the east coast cities of the U.S., are chronically causing alarm throughout the medical and ecological communities.

Air pollution and health concerns are not only linked in the United States, but there is a world wide phenomenon of sudden health concerns. The ozone depletion is a simple but highly relevant example of this.

Ozone depletion has brought the effects of air pollution directly into the lives of almost everyone in the world. Whether you spend time at the beach or you are exposed to sun as a result of your daily environment, sun damage and skin cancer has become a pandemic. All over the world incident rates of sun related skin cancers and skin damage is evidence that the sun’s harmful rays are attacking our skin cells on a much greater level than even just ten years ago.

We all play a part in the impact of air pollution and health effects. When we drive our cars in congested areas we help increase lung distress in the very young and the elderly. When we burn trash as a community through trash removal programs we are releasing cancer causing toxins into the air that we breathe and we are encouraging polluted rains and fog to bring those toxins right back to our soil and into our drinking water.

From there our internal organs can become highly affected and severe damage or death of the organs is not unusual. Air pollution that has become a world wide phenomenon still has unproven and unknown health risks that will be uncovered only as time and more experimentation passes.

We will not know just how much damage we have caused to our planet and our health until we start to improve the air quality and remove pollution from our basic policies and practices.
